Students learn about first responders and how they save others

Third-grade students read the story "Rescue Dogs Save the Day" and participated in a discussion on how rescue dogs save people when they are in need but there are also people who help when a disaster hits.
Students also created questions for guest speakers Marissa Wisenbach, Sam Burke, and Morgan Cuda from Shaler/Hampton EMS about how they help people in need.
Yesterday, students learned about various tools that are used when EMS first responders look for people who are lost and how they provide care for people who are sick.
The students also read a story called "Wildfires," and they are preparing questions to ask the West Deer Fire Department on Thursday about wildfires and fire prevention. Miss Marissa from East Union will be presenting to each third-grade class about fire tools used in wildfires.
Thank you to Miss Armstrong, Mrs. Fletcher's student-teacher, for coming up with the idea to include guest speakers.
